Pathways Together 2024 in Hintersee/Germany
From 19 to 25 July this year‘s Servas meeting for mountain lovers and hikers took place in Bavaria, Germany. Over 80 participants coming from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and even Turkey and Taiwan gathered at the CVJM Aktiv Center Hintersee located right on the peaceful Hintersee with a panoramic view of the Berchtesgadener Alps.
During the weekend people could choose every day from a range of hikes on 5 different levels or excursions to interesting destinations in the area. Among those was the visit to the Documentation Centre Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden with a new exhibition on the role of this venue as a centre of power in the days of the Nazi terror regime.
In the evenings people could join singing and dancing activities, accompanied by live music performances from Servas members (clarinette, Swiss accordeon, violin, guitar, piano) or simply relax and chat with old and newly made friends on the lake shore.
While the Easy group stayed at the CVJM Hintersee for further day hikes and excursions, the 3 trekking groups (Medium Minus, Medium Plus and Hard) left on Monday morning for different hiking tours in the mountains around Berchtesgaden and the famous Königssee with 2 overnight stays in mountain refuges along their routes. All groups met again on Wednesday evening at the Youth Hostel in Berchtesgaden for a farewell party. On that occasion the venue for next year’s Pathways Together was already presented, which will take place in Switzerland.
