In Loving Memory of Vibeke Matorp

It is with a heavy heart that I write to share the sad news of the passing of Vibeke Matorp of Servas Denmark, who left us on Thursday the 23rd of July 2026.
In 1995, Vibeke Matorp served as S.I Secretary when she nominated me as the main contact for Servas Pakistan. She personally trained me in the work and spirit of Servas and planted what she often called a "seedling" with the hope that it would one day grow into a strong national group. That vision has since become a reality and I, along with the entire Servas Pakistan family, owe our foundation to her belief and investment in that early promise.
I remember Vibeke Matorp as someone who was always open, generous, and ready to help.
She approached every interaction with positivity, motivation, genuine respect and understanding for people of all cultures and ethnicities, the very spirit that Servas was built upon.
On behalf of the whole Servas Pakistan group, I consider her not just a colleague, but our founding mentor and visionary, I met her personally only once during S.I. Conference in 2004 at Barcelona Spain.
We are deeply saddened by this loss.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for all her efforts, and our condolences to her family, friends, and the wider Servas community.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in every connection Servas Pakistan continues to make.
