<p>Vor fast vierzig Jahren litt ich unter einem Burnout in meinem ersten Job als Lehrerin und wollte mit meinen ersten Gehaltsersparnissen allein nach Mexiko reisen. Dort traf ich eine andere deutsche Frau mit der gleichen Absicht und in der gleichen Situation, nur dass sie als Ärztin arbeitete. Wir beschlossen, gemeinsam nach El Arcotete in San Cristobal de las Casas zu wandern (eine der ärmsten Gegenden Mexikos, in der die Indigenen unter den schlimmsten Folgen des Kolonialismus gelitten haben) und uns danach für unsere individuellen Routen zu trennen.</p>

<p>In El Arcotete trafen wir zwei junge einheimische Männer, die freundlich zu uns waren und wir reagierten genauso. Auf unserem Rückweg, mitten im Nirgendwo, in einem einsamen Wald, griffen sie uns an, bedrohten uns mit unseren eigenen Messern, versuchten eine Vergewaltigung und verschwanden mit unserem Geld.</p>

<p>Wir blieben zusammen, gingen zu einer Polizeistation, wo uns Polizisten eng umringten und uns grinsend aufforderten, Einzelheiten der Vergewaltigung zu erzählen. Wir gingen zum deutschen Konsul in Merida, einem mexikanischen Geschäftsmann, der uns zum Abendessen einlud und dann Bemerkungen machte, die uns dazu brachten, aus seinem Haus zu fliehen. Wir reisten zur Isla Mujeres (die damals noch ein Geheimtipp und kein Touristenzentrum war), erzählten einer Frau, die neben uns am Strand lag, unsere Geschichten. "Du bist mutig, du sprichst darüber, das ist mir zu Hause auch passiert"… Das half uns allen, die sexuelle Gewalt, die wir erlebt hatten, zu überleben.</p>

<p>Es war mein Reisebegleiter, der schließlich die Bemerkung fallen ließ: "Jemand hat mir von einer Organisation erzählt, der man beitreten kann, um andere Mitglieder auf der ganzen Welt zu besuchen. Alle müssen ein Interview bestehen und sind somit als vertrauenswürdig anerkannt. Du kannst Einheimische treffen - ohne dir Sorgen über etwas Gefährliches machen zu müssen. SERVAS hat auch eine Beobachterposition bei der UN, es geht darum, Frieden durch Begegnung zu schaffen."</p>

<p>Mein Rucksack ist bereit. Nur das Nötigste ist drin. Ich reise gerne "mit leichtem Gepäck", wie die alten Nomaden oder Alpenforscher. Ich liebe es, allein zu reisen. Ich liebe es, zu Fuß und mit dem Fahrrad zu reisen. Ich fühle mich frei, voller Adrenalin und unabhängig. Ich bin wirklich von der Schöpfung umgeben… dem blauen Himmel, dem ruhigen Meer, dem starken Wind und manchmal dem Regen… aber auch von Menschen um mich herum.</p>

<p>Jetzt fahre ich für ein paar Wochen in einen Kurzurlaub. Die Reise wird mich zum ersten Mal nach Porto in Portugal führen und dann zu Fuß auf eine abenteuerliche Wanderung entlang des Flusses Douro, der Meeresküste und auf bewaldeten Wegen… Richtung Norden, nach Finisterre. Ich bin allein unterwegs, ohne GPS, in einem Land, das ich nicht kenne. Mehrere Gedanken gehen mir durch den Kopf. Werde ich mein Ziel erreichen? Werde ich mein Zuhause, meine Familie und meine Freunde vermissen? Werde ich der Situation gewachsen sein … unbekannten Menschen, unerwarteten Ereignissen und schlechtem Wetter gegenüberstehen? Werde ich mit der Angst vor dieser nicht so gut organisierten Reise fertig?</p>

<p>Aber ich habe ein starkes Gefühl in mir. Ich bin Teil eines internationalen Netzwerks, Servas, das dafür sorgt, dass du dich überall zu Hause fühlst, wo du bist. In Porto wartet jemand auf mich, zufälligerweise eine andere "alleinstehende" Frau, Teresa, die ich zum ersten Mal treffe. Sie wird ihre Zeit, ihre Geschichten und ihre Gefühle mit mir teilen. Servas ist ein Traum! Servas ist ein revolutionärer Traum von einem neuen Lebensstil, der auf Gastfreundschaft, Fürsorge und dem Gefühl, Teil einer einzigen Menschheit zu sein, basiert und ein einzigartiges Projekt zum Aufbau einer neuen Welt des Friedens und der Gerechtigkeit verfolgt.</p>

<p id="block-8ea17d39-436d-4fac-b23d-a8ead54d66eb">Almost forty years ago I was suffering from burnout from my first job of teaching and wanted to travel by myself in Mexico with my first salary savings. There I met another German woman with the same intention from the same situation, except working as a doctor. We decided to hike together to El Arcotete in San Cristobal de las Casas (one of the poorest areas in Mexico where indigenes have suffered from the worst consequences of colonialism) and afterwards separate for our individual routes.</p>

On our way back, in the middle of nowhere, in a lonesome forest they attacked us, threatened us with our own knives, attempted rape and disappeared with our money.</p>

We went to the German consul in Merida, a Mexican businessman who invited us for dinner and then made remarks that made us flee his home. We travelled to Isla Mujeres (which at that time was an insider tip and not yet a tourist hub), told our stories to a woman lying beside us on the beach. “You are brave, you are talking about it, it also happened to me, at home”… It helped us all to survive the sexual violence we had experienced.</p>

I like to travel “light”, with a very few things with me, like ancient nomads or Alpine explorers. I love to travel alone. I love to travel on foot and by bicycle. I feel free, full of adrenaline, independent. Really surrounded by creation... the blue sky, the quiet sea, the strong wind and sometimes the rain... but also people all around me.</p>

The trip will lead me to Oporto, in Portugal, for the first time, and then, on foot, for an adventurous walk along the Douro river, the ocean coast and woody paths... direction north, toward Finisterre. I am travelling alone, with no GPS, in a country I don’t know. Several thoughts in my mind. Shall I reach my goal? Shall I miss my home, my family, my friends? Shall I be up to the situation... facing unknown people, unexpected events and bad weather? Shall I handle the anxiety of this trip that’s not so well-organised?</p>

<p>Hace casi cuarenta años sufría el agotamiento de mi primer trabajo de profesora y quise viajar sola por México con los ahorros de mi primer sueldo. Allí conocí a otra mujer alemana con la misma intención de la misma situación, excepto que trabajaba como médico. Decidimos caminar juntas hasta El Arcotete en San Cristóbal de las Casas (una de las zonas más pobres de México donde los indígenas han sufrido las peores consecuencias del colonialismo) y después separarnos para hacer nuestras rutas individuales.</p>

<p>En El Arcotete conocimos a dos jóvenes locales que se mostraron amistosos con nosotros y reaccionamos de la misma manera. A la vuelta, en medio de la nada, en un bosque solitario nos atacaron, nos amenazaron con nuestros propios cuchillos, intentaron violarnos y desaparecieron con nuestro dinero.</p>

<p>Permanecimos juntas, fuimos a una comisaría, donde los policías nos rodearon estrechamente y nos pidieron con una sonrisa que contáramos los detalles de la violación. Fuimos a ver al cónsul alemán en Mérida, un empresario mexicano que nos invitó a cenar y luego hizo comentarios que nos hicieron huir de su casa. Viajamos a Isla Mujeres (que en aquella época era un lugar de iniciados y aún no un centro turístico), contamos nuestras historias a una mujer que estaba tumbada a nuestro lado en la playa. "Eres valiente, estás hablando de ello, a mí también me pasó, en casa"… Nos ayudó a todas a sobrevivir a la violencia sexual que habíamos sufrido.</p>

<p>Fue mi compañera de viaje quien finalmente soltó el comentario: "Alguien me habló de una organización a la que puedes unirte para visitar a otros miembros de todo el mundo. Todos tienen que pasar una entrevista y así se les acredita como dignos de confianza. Puedes conocer a gente del lugar, sin tener que preocuparte por nada peligroso". SERVAS también tiene un puesto de observador en la ONU, se trata de hacer la paz mediante el encuentro. "</p>

<p>Mi mochila está lista. Sólo llevo dentro lo estrictamente necesario. Me gusta viajar "ligero", con muy pocas cosas conmigo, como los antiguos nómadas o los exploradores alpinos. Me encanta viajar solo. Me encanta viajar a pie y en bicicleta. Me siento libre, lleno de adrenalina, independiente. Realmente rodeada de creación… el cielo azul, el mar tranquilo, el viento fuerte y a veces la lluvia… pero también la gente a mi alrededor.</p>

<p>Il y a près de quarante ans, je souffrais d'épuisement professionnel après mon premier emploi d'enseignante et je voulais voyager seule au Mexique avec les économies de mon premier salaire. C'est là que j'ai rencontré une autre Allemande avec la même intention issue de la même situation, sauf qu'elle travaillait comme médecin. Nous avons décidé de marcher ensemble jusqu'à El Arcotete à San Cristobal de las Casas (l'une des régions les plus pauvres du Mexique où les indigènes ont souffert des pires conséquences du colonialisme) et de nous séparer ensuite pour nos itinéraires individuels.</p>

<p>À El Arcotete, nous avons rencontré deux jeunes hommes locaux qui se sont montrés amicaux avec nous et nous avons réagi de la même manière. Sur le chemin du retour, au milieu de nulle part, dans une forêt isolée, ils nous ont attaquées, menacées avec nos propres couteaux, ont tenté de nous violer et ont disparu avec notre argent.</p>

<p>Nous sommes restées ensemble, nous sommes allées au poste de police, où des policiers nous ont entourées de près et nous ont demandé en souriant de raconter les détails du viol. Nous sommes allées voir le consul allemand à Mérida, un homme d'affaires mexicain qui nous a invitées à dîner, puis a tenu des propos qui nous ont fait fuir de chez lui. Nous nous sommes rendus à Isla Mujeres (qui à l'époque était un tuyau d'initié et pas encore un centre touristique), nous avons raconté nos histoires à une femme allongée à côté de nous sur la plage. "Tu es courageuse, tu en parles, ça m'est aussi arrivé, chez moi"… Cela nous a tous aidés à survivre aux violences sexuelles que nous avions subies.</p>

<p>C'est mon compagnon de voyage qui a finalement lâché la remarque : "Quelqu'un m'a parlé d'une organisation à laquelle vous pouvez adhérer pour rendre visite à d'autres membres à travers le monde. Tous les membres doivent passer un entretien et sont donc accrédités comme étant dignes de confiance. Tu peux rencontrer des gens du pays - sans avoir à t'inquiéter de quoi que ce soit de dangereux. SERVAS occupe également un poste d'observation auprès de l'ONU, il s'agit de faire la paix par la rencontre. "</p>

<p>Mon sac à dos est prêt. Il n'y a que le strict nécessaire à l'intérieur. J'aime voyager "léger", avec très peu de choses avec moi, comme les anciens nomades ou les explorateurs alpins. J'aime voyager seul. J'aime voyager à pied et à vélo. Je me sens libre, pleine d'adrénaline, indépendante. Vraiment entourée par la création… le ciel bleu, la mer calme, le vent fort et parfois la pluie… mais aussi les gens tout autour de moi.</p>

<p>Maintenant, je pars pour quelques semaines pour de courtes vacances. <p>Mais j'ai un sentiment fort au fond de moi. Je fais partie d'un réseau international, Servas, qui peut te permettre de te sentir chez toi partout où tu es. À Porto, quelqu'un m'attend, par coïncidence une autre femme "célibataire", Teresa, que je rencontre pour la première fois. Elle partagera librement avec moi son temps, ses histoires, ses sentiments. Servas est un rêve ! Servas est un rêve révolutionnaire d'un nouveau style de vie basé sur l'accueil, sur le "prendre soin", sur le "sentiment de faire partie d'une seule humanité", avec un projet unique de construire un nouveau monde de paix et de justice.</p>

<p>Quasi quarant'anni fa soffrivo di burnout per il mio primo lavoro di insegnante e volevo viaggiare da sola in Messico con i risparmi del mio primo stipendio. Lì ho incontrato un'altra donna tedesca con la stessa intenzione e nella stessa situazione, ma che lavorava come medico. Decidemmo di camminare insieme fino a El Arcotete a San Cristobal de las Casas (una delle zone più povere del Messico, dove gli indigeni hanno sofferto le peggiori conseguenze del colonialismo) e poi separarci per i nostri percorsi individuali.</p>

<p>A El Arcotete abbiamo incontrato due giovani locali che si sono dimostrati amichevoli con noi e noi abbiamo reagito allo stesso modo. Sulla via del ritorno, in mezzo al nulla, in una foresta solitaria, ci hanno aggredito, minacciato con i nostri stessi coltelli, tentato di violentarci e sono spariti con i nostri soldi.</p>

<p>Siamo rimaste insieme, siamo andate in una stazione di polizia, dove i poliziotti ci hanno circondato da vicino e ci hanno chiesto sorridendo di raccontare i dettagli dello stupro. Siamo andati dal console tedesco a Merida, un uomo d'affari messicano che ci ha invitato a cena e poi ha fatto commenti che ci hanno fatto fuggire da casa sua. Ci recammo a Isla Mujeres (che all'epoca era un luogo di interesse per gli addetti ai lavori e non ancora un centro turistico), raccontammo le nostre storie a una donna sdraiata accanto a noi sulla spiaggia. "Siete coraggiosi, ne parlate, è successo anche a me, a casa"… Ci ha aiutato a sopravvivere alla violenza sessuale che avevamo subito.</p>

<p>Alla fine è stata la mia compagna di viaggio a dire: "Qualcuno mi ha parlato di un'organizzazione a cui si può aderire per visitare altri membri in tutto il mondo. Tutti devono superare un colloquio e sono quindi accreditati come affidabili. Si possono incontrare persone del posto, senza doversi preoccupare di nulla di pericoloso". SERVAS ha anche una posizione di osservazione presso l'ONU, si tratta di fare la pace attraverso l'incontro. "</p>

<p>Il mio zaino è pronto. Dentro c'è solo lo stretto necessario. Mi piace viaggiare "leggera", con poche cose con me, come gli antichi nomadi o gli esploratori alpini. Mi piace viaggiare da sola. Mi piace viaggiare a piedi e in bicicletta. Mi sento libera, piena di adrenalina, indipendente. Sono davvero circondata dal creato… il cielo azzurro, il mare tranquillo, il vento forte e a volte la pioggia… ma anche le persone intorno a me.</p>

<p>Ora sto per partire per un paio di settimane per una breve vacanza. Il viaggio mi porterà per la prima volta a Oporto, in Portogallo, e poi, a piedi, per un'avventurosa passeggiata lungo il fiume Douro, la costa oceanica e i sentieri boscosi… in direzione nord, verso Finisterre. Viaggio da solo, senza GPS, in un paese che non conosco. Mi passano per la testa diversi pensieri. Raggiungerò la mia meta? Mi mancherà la mia casa, la mia famiglia, i miei amici? Sarò all'altezza della situazione… affrontare persone sconosciute, imprevisti e maltempo? Riuscirò a gestire l'ansia di questo viaggio non così ben organizzato?</p>

<p>Ma dentro di me ho una forte sensazione. Faccio parte di una rete internazionale, Servas, che ti fa sentire a casa ovunque tu sia. A Oporto c'è qualcuno che mi aspetta, per coincidenza un'altra donna "single", Teresa, che incontro per la prima volta. Condividerà liberamente con me il suo tempo, le sue storie, i suoi sentimenti. Servas è un sogno! Servas è un sogno rivoluzionario di un nuovo stile di vita basato sull'accoglienza, sul "prendersi cura", sul "sentirsi parte di un'unica umanità", con un progetto unico per costruire un nuovo mondo di pace e giustizia.</p>
